MAREMOTO: A soft, blue glow could be seen above the surface of the water as Paz floated in the pool. He was slowly flexing his arms and legs, causing small waves to ripple out around him, and the nerves all over his face and bare body (save his bathing suit, of course) were pulsing their blue light in tune to his movements.
The Boricuan was thinking about this day's training session. It had gone alright, but as he mulled it over, he kept on thinking of ideas or strategies that he wished he thought of back then; much like thinking about all the witty comeback you could have said after an argument. Ways to make the water move, how to use it to mess the other team up-- the extent of his powers were that of his imagination. He'd really have to buckle down and start trying different things out soon to know what he was capable of.
Nevertheless, his mistakes could only teach him. This was the first Danger Room session, after all. And it was within his first few weeks of being at the Institute, too. He hoped he'd left a good impression on his team, despite the mistakes he made… but there were definitely going to be other soon enough, and Maremoto was going to be ready.
Paz looked up to the blank navy night sky, brown near the horizon from the light emitting from the city. That was the problem with living in such a developed area-- there were barely any stars out. Paz wished to see the Milky Way at least once in his life. That would be cool.

DRYAD: The day had been long, and Callie wanted nothing more than to avoid people for the rest of the night. Her morning had been filled with conversation with Iceman, the time with Julian, and then stressing out in the danger room. Not to forget the fact she felt like a total jerk to Maremoto. She ran through her head all the things she had said earlier, and was not happy with herself. It almost made her laugh aloud at the fact that she wondered why she had no friends. Her interaction with Bobby, though as far she knew he thought she was respectable, was filled with her being an obnoxious know it all. And the hanging out with Julian had tired her out before the day even really began. There was more that transpired day, but she planned to avoid thinking about any of it.
All she wanted to do was go for a swim by herself, and hopefully use that time to relax. She got in her bathing suit, a two piece that was a rich brown and forest green. The suit was somewhat presentable, but she knew if someone were to spot her outside of the pool it might turn a head. It was the early evening, so she had not expected anyone to be in the pool when she got there. As she began to approach the water, she noticed a strange glowing in the water. What was that, she asked herself. For all her luck, it was someone’s mutant ability, which meant no time alone at the pool. She could manipulate plants, some people manipulated light. Wait a second, maybe it was that one guy from her danger room session. Vulcan she thought his codename was? She began to wonder more about him in a manner that was more than friendly, but cursed at herself silently to break her daydream. ‘No Callie,’ She rose her hand to her head to rub her temples, stopping in her tracks to not lose balance. “Honestly, stop prevailing at portraying yourself as such a dunce! You have made a complete mockery of yourself!" The boy in the pool would have very well likely heard this as she exclaimed it, though whether he knew she was speaking to herself was another thing all together.
She held her ground for a while she battled in her head what to do. Did it really matter at this point if it was Vulcan? No, she told herself. ‘Just go, and relax Callie. You need this swim… ’ Her steps started up again, but much slower this time. But to her surprise, the momentum began to build until she realized she was running straight for the pool. She had been taking so easy since she stopped eating, it had been driving her crazy how inactive she had been. Maybe a little excitement was what she needed to distract herself, and maybe a little physical activity is what she needed to feel energized?
She did not even bother to look at the guy who had been glowing a bright blue hue in the pool, when she jumped gracefully into the water and submerged herself completely. When Callie rose from underwater, her curls had given out and her hair significantly darkened to an almost brownish color. The water felt absolutely amazing to her, and was the exact thing she needed to unwind. But as she continued to swim, it seemed all the water around her had become heavier. Callie could not figure out which direction was up and which was down, as it seemed the water itself spiraled around her in a mess of confusion. ‘A dizzy spell in the water?’ She swam back and forth several times, seemingly incapable of escaping the clenches of the water. "Oh-!!" She bobbed up and down inside the pool, her stomach cramping as she fought to stay surfaced. "I cannot swi-!!!"
Her heart raced as she realized she could not focus in the water, and she felt much too weak to fight anymore. Upon thrashing around, she collided with something that did not feel at all much like the cement bordering the pool. She reached for whatever it was, hoping she would find some aid in her dilemma. And eventually, with Maremoto's help or her own sheer luck, she found the side of the pool and held onto it with all she had. Callie was gasping for air, and felt incredible stupid for not taking better safety precautions. She would have hit herself in the head, if she had not known that letting go of the side of the pool could dangerous after what had just happened.
Shock fell on her when she turned to see who was sharing the pool with her. Only separated by a few gallows of water, was one of the few people she was trying to avoid since earlier today. “Oh god, it’s you!” The words escaped her as her jaw fell in awe. Of all places, and the color of the glow, she could feel nothing but humiliation as she realized that she had not realized sooner who this would be.

MAREMOTO: What Paz hoped to be a relaxing evening in the water was ended as he felt the surface of the water break, and someone jump in. Well, he couldn't really be mad that he wasn't alone anymore-- this was a public pool for all the students, after all. But still, he was hoping people had other plans in mind for the evening…
Paz turned himself to a vertical position, treading water as he saw a shock of red hair dancing in the waves. followed by a flurry of limbs, and a voice.
"I cannot swi-!!!"
Paz's eyes widened as he realized what was going on. Quickly, he submerged his hand, and with pulse of light coursing down in arm, he swept the drowning victim toward the side of the pool in a wave of water, which lapped up and out onto the pool tiles, though aloud the girl to grab hold on the side.
And that's when he got a good picture of who the girl was.
"Oh god, it's you!"
Paz's eyes narrowed as the glow from using his power faded.
This chick. She had some issues, didn't she? He'd encountered her fist in the danger room this early noon, and that hadn't gone to swimmingly. His first impression was that she was a bit off in the head, she seemed rather spacey during the whole session, and now it had just been confirmed and improved to totally off in the head.
Paz stayed where he was for a moment treading water, not altering the disproving look in his face, but then decided it wasn't going to be worth his time. He reached to grab the nearby wall, and lifted himself up with his triceps, about to get out of the pool.

DRYAD: "Wait!" Callie cried for Maremoto, her hand reaching out from the pool and in his direction. Her voice was filled with pain, it was clear she was traumatized. "Please… don't leave me… I'm sorry… " Tears began to roll down her eyes as she started sobbing, her head laid in her arms along the border of the pool. She couldn't even try to count all times she had cried today, nor the mass feeling of alienation she carried with her.
This day was terrible. This school held so much promise, and already she was thinking of just going back home and crying in her room all summer. It was hard enough that she had never lived away from home before, never stayed at a friends house, and hell, never even went camping. "And this stupid ea-" She stopped herself before she revealed her secret, almost not caring if he caught on at this point. Would he even care? Callie could not blame him if he didn't, look at how she had been treating him. She wasn't too sure what she had done, but her mind had been elsewhere all day and he was clearly upset.
'This stupid eating disorder… THIS STUPID FREAKING EATING DISORDER!' Callie didn't know what to say or how to act. She came her to casually swim, and somehow turned it into a cesspool of drama. She literally couldn't function this way. She knew that. She couldn't think clearly, and she hurt randomly and couldn't even use her power for good without throwing up in front of her teammates.
"I'm sorry… " She said one last time. Her voice was filled with defeat, and her eyes longing. All she wanted right now was someone to comfort her, was that too much to ask? "You are so freaking weak Callie! You're weak! You're weak and you're stupid!"

MAREMOTO: Paz stared at the blubbering mess that the girl he'd just saved. What the hell was she going on about? First she jumps in, almost drowns, and now this scene.
It was a definite now: this girl was whack. Loca to the max. Yet somehow Paz didn't feel right leaving it at that. Even if she was totally off the wall, she and Paz shared something in common: they were classmates. Even more so, they were both mutants. She was one of the few people on the planet who could possible understand his life, and those of everyone else who went to this school. They all lived here together, which, in Paz's eye, made them family, however unconventional.
"Are you alright?" he asked her, dipping himself back in the water. It was all that he could think of to say in response to this… scene. Her whole episode was borderline psychotic in Paz's eye. Something was wrong with this girl-- she needed help. Paz was no psychologist, but this wasn't normal for sure.
"You are so freaking weak Callie!…
"Hey, calm," Paz said, putting a hand on her shoulder as she started bashing herself. "Do not say that."
The look in her eye was… unsettling. Not disturbing, just… Paz felt like he was in a position he wasn't prepared for. But he had no choice right now. This girl looked like she was going to have a massive panic attack, and Paz had to help.

MILLER: Mod suggestion: No real harm here, so no foul… Distinguishing internal unspoken thoughts with a symbol, planted on either side of the internal thought, has worked pretty well for those that use Telepathic communication abilities.. maybe that can serve the player's intention in this case? (Example borrowed from Psylocke: ~*~ I'm on it, Cyclops - I have a plan… ~*~). A 'single' quote sign might be mistaken for regular speech… so just pointing out a distinct thought with an alternate recognizable symbol for that character could work too. Symbols frequently used by others are: "+", "~", "*", or sometimes combinations, like "~*~" in Psylocke example… just suggesting to help clarify.. no one is in trouble… ~MILLER~

DRYAD: She had expected Paz to just leave, and she would not have held anything against him if he did. Look at her! She was a complete mess, and after what had happened with Julian, it seemed like there was not one place where she couldn't keep a crying fit at bay. Self pity was something she definitely needed to work on. She began to wonder if there was a counselor here she could speak with… she clearly needed one.
Her sobs began to weaken once she felt Paz's warm hand against her skin. He had touched her shoulder, and given her a little bit of comfort regardless of how much of fool she seemed to be. "I know… I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't be hating myself." A weak smile surfaced behind the tears that continued to fall.
"I uh… I'm sorry for being so crazy… I know this may sound stupid, but I just. I have been going through a lot. And well, I'm not used to people either so this has been pretty scary for me. I only found out I was an actual mutant five… maybe six days ago and I just. I don't know… " She pulled herself out of the pool, seeming to hardly manage as she laid herself out on the cement ground. Her bones were more visible than before. Callie had noticed that when she changed into her bathing suit. Some guys would find that sort of thing attractive, but it just grossed her out.
She eventually pushed herself to up to sit on her butt, curling over her stomach and hugging her knees to her chest. "I uhh… I really appreciate how patient you are being with me. I would be lying if I didn't seem crazy right now." She gave a small laugh, her eyes giving away a little more water. "I feel like it. I kno I'm not. I know I just haven't dealt with this type of stress, and I am probably making it worse by criticizing how I'm reacting. It makes sense. Affirmations, and what not. Umm.." Callie searched for his eyes for a while till she thought she locked onto them. "Thanks… I needed this… someone to just wait for me… "

MAREMOTO: Paz listened to Callie as she talked, though it wasn't exactly all registering within his mind. He wasn't trying to be rude or turn a deaf ear, but… well, he'd missed the first part of what she said from the whole unexpectedness of this, and the rest of it got lost in translation, seeming to all just blend together.
Nonetheless, once Paz's English booted back up in his mind, he smiled, happy his simple gesture had calmed her down so easily. At least body language was universal.
As she lifted herself out of the pool, Paz's nostril snarled minutely at the sight of her rib cage almost ripping through her thin, pale skin.
Ew. That didn't look normal. Nor healthy. Did this girl not eat?
However, when Paz noticed her looking at him, he readjusted his expression, replacing it with a reassuring (though what he was reassuring her for, he didn't quite know) smile. Hopefully she hadn't caught him.
Paz lifted himself up and out of the pool, joining her sitting down at the edge with his feet in the water. "I'm Paz," he introduced himself, his real name, with an extended open hand, hoping to lighten the mood. She probably only knew him as Maremoto from the team session.
~Por favor, lo dices correcto,~ he begged her in his mind. He didn't want to have to correct her pronunciation of his name.

DRYAD: Callie would have stood up to shake his hand, but the uncomfortable memory of her stomach kept her from doing so. She hadn't really thought about it much, but her body image was going to be changing for the worse. "Hey. Sorry for not really pulling through in the Danger Room. I guess I just tried too hard. Um… " Her gaze stayed on Paz as she tried to think of what to say. Why was she feeling so calm already? It must be because she wasn't used to people talking with her, but she could not really discern if that was the exact reason. "You were jarring with that wave in the scenario. I mean, wow." She was avoiding what she had meant to mention in the first place.
~Come on, just go out and say it!~
"I really wanted to apologize. I was rude. You helped me help them, the vines I mean. You also used some of your energy to help me use my powers." She picked herself up from the ground, subconsciously if anything, and began to pace back and forth as she spoke to him. "I know from a tactical perspective it would be the most practical thing to do. Keep the neurotic one calm in a situation, and help work together to reinforce the base. But still, it doesn't mean that you didn't help me when I asked. You even put up with my sour attitude and… " Callie grabbed her stomach as she tried to catch her breath. She had actually winded herself while speaking, and now her attention was focused on her ribs.
~Will they ever stop aching?!~ Her face formed a look of annoyance and pain as she thought these words.
When she remembered she was in the presence of another person, she rose her back up straight and used her hands expressively. "Oh sorry, I just am not used to all the physical activity… "
~Come on think Callie, think!~
"My mutant ability is harsh on my body. It literally takes some of the energy I have in my body to use… well, as far as I can tell." She would have smiled if it didn't blow her cover. How she was going with this was believable, which was good. "I don't know why… I mean I always got a little fatigued, but not like this. And I have gotten skinnier… which worries me… "
~Usually someone who doesn't eat avoids speaking about the problem as a whole, if you actually verbalize your recognition of it, then it's less likely for someone to think I have this problem.~
"But enough about me, I'm talking an awful lot. Umm, tell me about you!" She faked a weak smile, which was convincing, but still a little off. Most would assume it was the pain she felt that attributed to this. And in reality, it was exactly that which caused her to not fully perfect her smile. As much as it upset Callie to say all this, she wasn't going to give up on her cause.

Callie had a toned physique before he eating disorder, and it has only been 5 days. MAREMOTO: Wow, this girl talked a lot, and fast. She had a peculiar way of speaking, Paz noticed as he tried to keep up with her. It seemed like she just let whatever was in her head flow out through her mouth: a verbal train of thought, which was a bit difficult for Paz to understand and piece together. Though he'd learned English for a few years, he'd never quite graduated from translating in his head what he hears in English to what he can comprehend in Spanish.
At school, it never seemed a pressing issue to be able to think in English, but now Paz sure wished he'd at least tried before.
Paz smiled when she apologized. "We are teammates together," was his simple answer. But after that, Paz just sat there with a blank expression as she paced the pool deck before him, rambling off about… something. The fact that she was tired from using her mutant abilities earlier in the day, he gathered. Which made sense-- he did had to wake her up during the training session.
Paz heard her ask about himself, but the fact that she was grabbing her stomach didn't sit right with the Boricuan. Her face showed her in pain… something was off.
"Is your stomach okay?" he asked her instead.

DRYAD: "My… my stomach… " Her heart raced. Of all the things he had to ask about her stomach. He could of said she was stupid, or told her to have a good day. He could have asked her how her day had been or what fer power was even and it would have been better. But instead he kept looking at her that way he did, and then asked about her stomach.
~Damn, why is it I can't escape this problem. I just want to forget it, but it seems no one can go without noticing it. And it's only been less than a week!~
She breathed heavily, something Paz would notice her doing. Callie could try and stay here and rationalize what was going on with her stomach, or she could bolt and not look back. The second option would no doubt cause problems, but Callie didn't really care anymore. She was frustrated, and if in the end someone else had to make the decision for her as to what she has to do, then she would be fine with that. The whole dilemma was enough to drive her crazy.
After all, it seemed like everyone else thought she was because of it. Callie just nodded her head awkwardly as she spoke. "I think I'm kind of sick, so I have to go. I'll see you later okay!"
Callie then turned and darted away as fast as she could. She didn't want to deal with this, and even if it gave her secret away later, at the moment it felt right. Callie didn't care anymore, she just wanted to run.

MAREMOTO: Of all the words in his duel language vocabulary, Paz could not think of one to describe how downright weird this evening had just been.
Bizarre. Awkward. Psycho. Just… what the fuck? What the fuck just happened?
Paz watched Callie run away, but didn't pursue her, and he sure as hell wasn't about to.
He was completely dumbfounded as he stayed seated at the pool edge. That girl was loca. Wherever she was going was not going to be Paz's concern. He'd tried to be nice, he'd tried to be helpful, but this girl was her own situation; her own chaotic situation. And one that Paz was no longer going to have anything to do with.
Next time he saw her coming down the hall, he was going the other way. He just didn't know what to think of this redhead anymore, not after tonight's episode.
Paz stood up on the deck, and went to retrieve his towel and shirt that had been laying on one of the poolside reclining chairs. After a quick drying of his upper body, he slipped his shirt on and was ready to call it a night.
Maybe tomorrow he could have a less… eventful… swim in the pool. He knew he should take advantage of it while the water was warm from the summer air.
