MONET: Monet felt bad… the flirting with Hellion had caused a rift between her and Dani. The Algerian remembered the incident at the Coffee Shop pretty well, having to indirectly knock out her friend just before mass hysteria happened inside the establishment. Her karate chop had been so quick that no one in the store had a chance to react.

Blaming Dani’s predicament on the heat, M helped the girl out of the store and back to the Mansion before anything catastrophic happen. Truth be told Monet felt bad for what had happened to Dani. The whole ordeal sparked from M’s distraction with a new boy, a boy named Julian Keller.

So M had to make it up to her girl. Even if Dani’s mark of her territory seemed a little excessive at times, the Algerian still found it cute. But now Dani was a little mad at M, so the Algerian decide to make it up to her.

Sending her some money, Monet told the girl to buy something nice and meet her in the foyer for an a dinner. The girl needed a little pampering, a way for Monet to let her know just how much she appreciated Dani around.

M had spent a few hours getting ready. Surge had done an amazing job with her hair and makeup. He was M’s preferred hair dresser on speed dial and on call. Always the painter to her prefect canvas, his hand works wonders to her perfection.

The Algerian had picked the perfect dress, its dark material clinging to her form and revealing her dusky skin. Her hair cascaded past her shoulders, her skin flawless with just enough makeup to exuberate her statuesque features.

With one final look in the mirror she headed downstairs in the foyer waiting for her date to arrive.

MOONSTAR: To say that Danielle had been miserable the past few days would be an understatement. She'd nearly blown up at the book store, she'd alienated Monet, and to top it all off, her favorite comfort food, Oreos dipped in caramel, was missing the key ingredient of caramel.

So when she got the text from Monet, she was determined to make the most of it. She would wow the girl, and make sure she wanted one and only one girl: Dani Moonstar. She'd found a dress, a red little number that could be adequately described as "yummy." If Monet didn't want to just tear it right off of her, well she'd have to question the girls bisexuality.

She put on just a touch of makeup to accentuate her exotic features. Then she made her wait out, pausing at the steps to give Monet a good look at what was hers for the taking. She grinned darkly, slowly making her way down the steps, looking like something that had stepped out of a movie.

She paused next to Monet, smirking at her. As if daring her to take what was rightfully hers. "I hope you don't mind," she said. "But I took the liberty of taking the money that was left over… and renting us a room at the Mariot for the night," she said. She stood there, still, waiting for Monet to lead her on.

“Wow, you clean up really good.” M said, pulling her in she planted a soft kiss onto Dani’s subtle lips. The lingering scent of perfume tantalized her senses feeling the warmth of her lover’s lips against hers. “Always so damn resourceful,” she said muttering into Dani’s ear. “It’s a quality in your arsenal that I do enjoy.”

M took Dani’s hand and led her out of the foyer to the awaiting limo. She wasn’t going to be cheap tonight, revealing just how resourceful the girl was. It only took a few phone calls, using her Daddy’s limo rental service he always used; she did put it on his tab after all.

The tall driver dressed in an expensive tux opened the door for the ladies. Lights came on as M allowed her date to slide in first. Placing her hand under her dress to smooth it out, the Algerian Princess slid in afterwards as the door shut behind her.

It didn’t take long for the driver to slide into the driver’s seat and begin their drive down to upper Manhattan for a bite to eat.

Before M could say anything about this evening’s itinerary, her iPhone buzzed in her purse. Opening up her Gucci handbag, the girl pulled out her pink iPhone. Looking at her screen it was a text from Alison Blair, aka Razzle Dazzle Barbie…

“Well seems to be Barbie thinks her and I are pals.” M said, allowing Dani to look at her screen. She had no idea what possessed the pop tart the idea that she was M’s BFF or something. Rumors had it she had been dumped by Artie, who hadn’t been at the Institute for quite some time now.

Scuttle butt was that the girl was now dating Alex Power, a guy that M thought could do WAY much better than the washout American Idol wannabe… M would have to give Simon Cowell a call… even if the former Judge of the fallen TV show had dumped the show on a high note. With pop stars like Alison Blair out there… it’s no wonder the show was tanking.

::Kinda busy tonight, have fun though:: M texted back, not even bothering to sign the text. The thought of hanging out with Alison made her vomit just a little… she was the last person on this planet someone of Monet’s status would hang out with. Next thing the girl would want Monet to hand out some of her burned copies of what she called music at her social parties.

“Anyway, where was I?” Monet said slipping her iPhone back into her purse. “There’s a favorite restaurant of mine near central park called Atelier. That’s where we are going tonight.” M said leaning into Dani and enjoyed the tantalizing aroma of her perfume.

MOONSTAR: Monet's kisses had a way of sending chills up Danielle's spine. Her warm, soft, pillowy lips against her own was Moonstar's idea of Heaven. Well, maybe not heaven, but close. Heaven as basking in the afterglow of lovemaking with her.

Truth be told, Monet didn't need all this to impress Danielle. A cookie in the cafeteria would have sufficed. All she really needed to know was that she was a priority. That she mattered in Monet's life. But this… was a very good way to show that.

The only hitch so far came was when Monet's cell phone went off. She swore to god, if she got blown off again, she was going to unleash the mother of all fear-bombs. She was relieved when she replaced it into her bag and revealed the night's festivities. "Hmmm, fancy," Dani said. "Try to charm me so you get lucky tonight?" she teased. Dani knew how to flirt, although she wasn't quite the flirtation afficionado that Monet was. She took in Monet's scent, slipping her hand into Monet's purse and taking the aforementioned phone.

"Just… one thing," she said. She hit the silent function on it, then put it back. "Tonight is just about you and me. the world can do without Monet st. Croix for one night. She cupped her girlfriend's cheek and gave her a long, deep kiss. One that if she could, she would hold until they got to the eatery.

“I’m so sorry baby,” M said, giving the girl a little cute pout. “It ain’t easy being me.” The Algerian Princess was pretty serious, giving Danielle a sincere look. She really liked the Cheyenne, even if she didn’t show it all the time. M was a power flirter, she loved how it made her feel… it was like a drug, and the more she did it the more she craved the attention.

The kiss was very enjoyable, causing Monet whimpered in response, her head tilting into Dani’s touch. The drive didn’t seem to take very long, the girls enjoying a few moment in one another’s arms.

Arriving at their destination, the driver opened the doors, allowing the girls to make their exit. The place gorgeous, a building that looked like it was built from an old hotel back in the 1950’s. It held quite a view of Central Park, with a line of patrons awaiting for seating. There was a dress code, as most of the patrons were dressed in their Sunday best.

“Shall we?” Mo asked, taking the Cheyenne’s arm into her own. Leading the girl up to the door, they were quickly ushered in and to a more secluded part of the restaurant and held a romantic feel all around them.

The Host lead them to their seat, pulling the chairs back for each lady and placing a menu in front of them.

“Mr. James will be your waiter for this evening; enjoy your stay at Atelier this evening.” He said taking his leave.

“So do you think? This place has the best French cuisine in Upper Manhattan.” Mo responded, reaching for a glass of lemon water and taking a drink.

MOONSTAR: If Dani were to type to be wowed by money and opulence, then this would have impressed the hell out of her. In truth, she enjoyed the brief make-out session in the limo more than the obviously expensive locale. Truth be told, her idea of a good time was a trip on horseback, the night sky overhead, and nothing between you and the wilderness but a tent.

Oh god… did that make her the "butch" of the pair? She wasn't going to need to cut her hair into a mullet, was she?

As she sat and began to look at the menu, she realized it all might as well have been in Dutch. She closed it and set it down.

"Umm… you might need to order for me. Only thing I recognize is escargot, and that's because everyone knows it's snail," she said. "And to be honest… I would have been satisfied with a hamburger in the cafeteria, long as I got to be with you."

She looked into her girlfriend's eyes. "I just… need to know I matter, is all. I know you like to play around, and I'm… well I'm fine with that, long as I know I'm the one who gets to be with you. But it hurts when you ignore me in favor of messing with that Keller kid's head. Its like I'm hearing 'yes, I'll get to you if I have time, he's more important.'"

“Dani its ok, they have an english section. Look at the back.” Mo said, reaching over to reassure the girl. The Algerian knew that maybe this wasn’t Dani’s cup of tea, but if she wanted to be in Monet’s life; the girl really needed to get herself acclimated to Monet’s life style.

“Who’s here with me right now?” M asked, looking at the Cheyenne with serious eyes. “You know I have to think about the team as well, there’s a lot more here than filling a spot in my sheets.”

If it were any other person, M would have probably cut the girl loose. Even if they weren’t officially anything, Dani seem to think there was a prospect of a relationship. Sure Mo loved to be around the girl, but at this point if it was going to be complicated maybe they should take some time off from one another.

“The Upstarts are down a person and I need to be on the prowl again to fill that slot.” Monet said, she wasn’t annoyed at Dani’s called to attention.

“You have remember, that there are other objectives than just fucking all the time. We need to fill the slot, and I think Keller is a good choice for it.” The Algerian didn’t mind being intimate with Dani, but the way the girl seem so enthused in getting into M’s panties all the time made her wonder if there was more to this relationship than just sex.

"If I wanted a quick, cheap lay, I would have gone to Cordelia. I mean, between the zombie and the ooze monster, its pretty clear she's not picky. But you seem to just want to keep jumping to that conclusion."

She felt bad for saying that, but whenever something came up, Monet jumped right to "is it just sex?" And it was getting a little annoying. "I don't want to talk about the team tonight," she added. "Leave business at home for once. You need to get out and enjoy life more. Yes, what we are doing is important. If I didn't think so, I would have turned you in to Xavier the first day."

She let out a sigh, taking a big gulp of water. "Just like you need to know there's more to us than the physical, I need to know there's more to us than me being useful to you. I need to know that you have the same feelings for me that I do for you. I need to know there's a foundation for 'Monet and Dani' that doesn't involve ulterior motives."

“The ooze monster isn’t a bad person.” M said ignoring the Cordelia remark. She disliked the Puppy Frost. The girl had always been over shadowed by her eldest sister, someone that Cordelia couldn’t even fathom to compete with.

Yet, M was still in awe by the way Emma controlled a room. Even if the girl had almost 4 years ahead of M, the Algerian knew with the right experience and control of her developing telepathy; she would reach that level someday.

“Fine. I was just stating my agenda for Keller so that you don’t get all jealous again.” M said, she was hoping to get to talk about the Upstart’s situation, but if Dani didn’t want to talk about it… M would honor that.

“You don’t know me very well do you Dani?” M said, letting out her own sigh. She couldn’t afford this now, all these things while the world around her evolved. Maybe she wasn’t ready for a serious relationship, one that would take her way from her vision. “When we started all of this I told you that I had a higher calling, something that kept me grounded and focused.” M said, her hand reached over to Dani’s holding delicately.

“You know how much I care for you, but we are complete opposites,” M said, the sincerity of her dark eyes revealed that she wasn’t playing any sort of game. It was the truth.

“I like shopping, you like horses; I like the mall, your like the forest. Maybe we are just kidding ourselves with this?” She asked, wondering just were their relationship was heading. They were in an expensive restaurant, and yet Danielle still didn’t seem happy.

MOONSTAR: There it was. the one and only flaw in Monet St. Croix. Her tendency to jump to conclusions. She assumed that Dani was saying that Marina was a bad person based on her sleeping with Frost. If it wasn't for that trait, she'd be perfect. But because of it, Dani was about to started beating her face on the table.

Well, that and her way of flip-flopping on things. Her jealousy was cute. Her jealousy was not cute. Her jealousy was cute. Her jealousy was not cute. And always with the Upstatrts. Was she really that dedicated that she couldn't fit anything else in her life?

As much as it hurt, Monet's words cut even deeper. She didn't want to break up, damn it!

"Monet, I'm here because I'm committed to making this work," she said, her voice bordering on pleading. "I know you have the Upstarts, and I think what you're doing is a good thing. But everyone needs time for themselves. Even when he was conquering the world, Alexander didn't spend every hour of every day thinking only of that. he had wives, concubines… a son."

She sighed and took a sip of her water. Dammit, how did everyone else make this seem so easy? "So we have difference, so does everyone else." She was prepared to cite Cyclops and Epiphany, but… that didn't end well. Logan and Jean or Alison and Artie either. Crap.

"Look, I'm committed to making this work… but if you aren't… then just tell me now. I'll get up, I'll leave, and you can enjoy the rest of your evening… "

Monet could see the girl was flustered, a trait that Dani seemed to possess. How easily she wore her emotions on her sleeve, the ordeal of their current discussion eminent by her reaction to M’s statement.

MOONSTAR "Look, I'm committed to making this work… but if you aren't… then just tell me now. I'll get up, I'll leave, and you can enjoy the rest of your evening… "

“Commitment? You act as if we are married or something?” M said, her own frustrations seeping through. The entire evening had been planned to smoothen whatever ruffles that had happened between them. But from the looks of things, the issue of Commitment always came up. Obviously they weren’t on the same page, and it was time to extinguish whatever caused this thing from happening once again.

“Dani… sweet heart. You’ve gotta relax just a little… you need to give me a little breathing room.” M said, she reached over to hold the girl’s hand. Her eyes sparkled with seriousness, but held sincerity within their depths. “I realize that I may flirt a little, but there’s only one person that I care for very much… and that person is sitting in front of me now.”

There, M hoped that this would quell the rising beast. There wasn’t much more she could say, especially when the waiter returned asked for the ladies if they were ready to order.

“I think my girl needs a little more time.” M responded, reaching over to touch the girl’s hand.

The waiter nodded, didn’t say anything and just vanished in the crowd of the establishment.

MOONSTAR: Why was this so hard? Well, they always said relationships were work, but some managed to make it look easy. Well… a few did. But those few were not the ones Dani would choose to emulate. She decided to drop the metnion of their little team. She didn't want to be here to discuss business. There was too much of that already.

"I'm not saying we are," she said in response to Monet's assertion that she was making it sound like they were married. "I'm not the type to trust easily, you know that," she explained. "It took a lot for me to even be your friend. And a lot more to call you my girlfriend. Even still, I'm waiting for the day you decide I'm not worth the hassle and toss me aside for some less… high maintenance."

Danielle knew she was far from the ideal partner. She had issues with her powers, issues with trust, issues with race. And she knew Monet could have anyone she wanted. "I care about you baby. A lot. I just like to know I'm on your priority list once in a while is all." Relationships, as they said, were about compromise. "So you make a little time for me once in a while, like tonight, and I'll lay off the urge to scalp Julian and paint myself in his blood," she joked, though that did give quite the funny mental image.

“And I’m not high maintenance?” M said, giggling a little at Dani’s comment. “There are a lot of people at the Institute would dream of having what you have… savor it and indulge yourself in it.” She added, feeling a little better on how the conversation was going. The last thing she needed was to set the Cheyenne off, having another Bookstore Episode in one of M’s favorite places to eat. “I’ve always been a sucker for challenges, I think that’s what attracted me to you… I mean look at yourself now,” She spoke revealing her intentions finally. “I love the fact you beam confidence, a far cry from the broken girl I met 5 months ago.”

“Julian isn’t a threat… I promise you that.” M corrected the girl’s assumptions. The whole deal was, Dani was territorial, and being someone who lacked trust… well it made for an ugly combination. Even if M reassured her, Dani’s low self esteem would constantly buzz in that pretty little head of hers. But Monet wasn’t going to retool her social schedule just because of someone was feeling threaten. Either she would have to get over it, or maybe this whole ‘relationship’ wasn’t going to work out.

MOONSTAR "If it’s a deal, give me a kiss."

Mo smiled, leaning over she planted a soft subtle kiss onto Dani’s luscious lips. The kiss was sweet, and not to over bearing, after all they were in the middle of a restaurant enjoying each other’s company. Trying to anyway…

“So now that this is over let’s order shall we?” M said, sitting back down into her seat.

MOONSTAR: Dani smiled when the soft pillows of Monet's lips made contact with hers. She was glad that their budding romance wouldn't fall the way of all too many these days. Many couples this young, when faced with even the slightest bump in the road, folded and collapsed rather than reached an accord and compromised with each other. Then again, most weren't as mature as Danielle and Monet.

"Well, nice to see thats out of the way. Now we can get to enjoying our night out. And that hotel room won't go to waste." Now that would have been a crime. While Monet might be quick to assume sex was Dani's ultimate goal, Dani would argue she saw it as nothing more than what it was. An important part of their relationship, yes, but not the entirety of it. She enjoyed the act as much as she enjoyed anything else with the Algerian beauty.

"I think I'll have the filet mignon. Mostly because… its the only thing on the menu I can pronounce." She grinned sweetly. Her usual fare was less escargot and more hamburger. Not that she didn't appreciate the gesture. Monet's easy class and sophistication was part of what made her so damn sexy in Dani's eyes.
