Failure to comply with the Institutes rules will result in the assignment of demerits, detention, school suspension, expulsion and/or other punitive action(s) based on the circumstances of the particular infraction as determined by the student's advisor. Extreme violations will be administered by the institute's Headmaster Dr. Ororo Monroe or the Deputy Headmaster Dr. Henry McCoy.

1. ATTENDANCE: Attendance will be taken the same as during the regular school year. Any student who misses more than 8 hours per semester course of summer school will not receive credit for the course, or 3 hours for Driver Education classroom. If a student is absent please call the administration office: (518) 555-2255 ext. 108
2. EXAM DAYS: All students must be in attendance on the last day of each semester to take the final exam. Students are permitted to take exams early, or make up exams if extentuating cirrcumstances exist. Students should be aware that the 'CUTTING' of a class on exam day may result in a failing grade for the semester being assigned to the student found to be cutting that day.
3. TARDINESS TO CLASS : All students are to be in their classrooms when the period begins at 8:00 a.m. Any student who is tardy will be marked absent for the hour the tardy occurs.
4. STUDY: Summer school courses cover a great deal of material in a short time; consequently, students must study both during the school day and outside of school time. Books are to be taken home each day. No corridor lockers are to be used.
5. GRADES: Students who are taking courses for credit will receive the same type of grades as given during the regular school year.
6. LEAVING SCHOOL GROUNDS: Students are not to leave the school grounds unless they have signed themselves out from the administration office. Students must notify administration as to when they will be returning, and provide valid contact information for the duration they are off school grounds. Those students who do not nave a viable cell phone, or can not provide acceptable contact information may be denied permission to leave school grounds.
7. DRIVING: Any student who drives to school must observe all driving regulations and all safety regulations. Permission to drive a car to school may be revoked at any time in the interest of safety and attendance.
• STUDENT PARKING: Students must be aged 16 or above and are permitted to maintain one personal vehicle on campus providing they have a legal driver's liscence, insurance and an acceptable driving record. Vehicles are to be stored in the student parking lot. Permission to use personal vehicles must still be obtained by a faculty member, but mileage records are not mandatory. A copy of a student's Key to their personal vehicle will be held in a locksafe by the administrative office, accessible only by institutes administration and faculty.
• INSTITUTE VEHICLES: Three school-use SUVs are available to the student body. Permission to use these vehicles must be obtained 24 hours prior to using any Institute vehicle from the administrative office. Students are responsible for maintaining mileage records, returning vehicles with full gas tanks, returning the vehicle safely to main institute parking facility, signing the vehicle back in to the administrative office and returning the vehicle keys to the administrative office. Curfews are still in effect when off campus.

8. PARKING BICYCLES: All bicycles must be left in the bike racks in front of the building. All bikes should be locked as the school is not responsible for any acts of theft or vandalism. No skateboards are to be on school grounds. Roller blades may not be worn in the school building.
9. GUIDANCE: During a students time at the Xavier Institute for the Gifted, guidance will be available for any student who needs assistance with classes, emotional or 'other' issues.
10. SMOKING: Any student who smokes, possesses, or uses tobacco in the building or any place on the school grounds will be suspended for two hours and may be issued a citation by the Vernon Hills Police Department.
11. SPECIAL SERVICES: Students requiring accommodations due to an IEP or 504 Plan should contact their case manager prior to enrolling in summer school.
12. STUDENT VISITOR POLICY: No outside visitors (outside friends, family and so on) will be admitted to the school grounds without explicit permission of the faculty.

13. STUDENT ACCESS: As the Xavier Institute is a communal environment, students are expected to respect the rights and privacies of others. Additionally, access to some portions of the Institute are limited and or restricted based on the students grade level or participation within the Institute.
    • TRAINGING FACILITIES: A member of the Institute's administration or faculty MUST be present when using any Institute training facility (referred to by the Student Body at 'the Danger Room' including the Institute pool, stables, weight room or other facilities.
    • INFIRMARY ACCESS Aministration is to be notified up on immediate admission to the Institute's infirmary. Visiters are permitted access to visit 14/7 who is not in critical condition. Visitiation to anyone who is considered to be in critical condition must be approved though the Jean Grey, the Institute's doctor in residence,
    • MAINFRAME ACCESS - Cerebra While students are permit to qyuery the Cerebra from remote Institute terminals, Students are expressly forbidden from entering the Institute's Mainframe/datacenter, also know as the Cerebra unless accompanied by a member of the Administration or Faculty.
    • HANGERS: Students are forbidden from accessing the hangers which house the Institutes SR-71 Lockheed Blackbird, or two VSTAL Jests without permission expressed permission from the Administrative office.
    • OTHER: Use of the Institutes's Training Facilities, Weapons Locker or Containment Cells are forbidden without permission from faculty.

14. CITIZENSHIP AND STUDENT DRESS: While students are considered to be in attendance at the school voluntarily, they are still expected to maintain an acceptable attitude toward learning and in their dress. Students who do not maintain good school citizenship may be dismissed from school without refund and without credit. Students in summer school will be expected to conduct themselves and to dress in the same manner as acceptable during the regular school year.
