His ears are slightly pointed, and are usually perked up, though they can be manipulated much like a dog’s, often giving away how he is feeling.

PERSONALITY: |
| Outward, Nick seems like any regular boy his age, mixed with a hyperactive mutt. It’s a strange balance, flirting with girls one moment, and chasing small animals across the lawn the next. He tries not to worry himself with things - if you enjoy yourself now, all the problems will sort themselves out. And even if they don’t get better, they can wait. Enjoy while you can, deal when you need to.
Nick is constantly grappling with two halves of himself. On the one hand, he has a strong moral conscience and would do anything to avoid truly harming, least of all killing, anyone. On the other hand, he is constantly presented with a strong urge to fight, to cause damage, and to kill. Some think it can be linked to the territorial nature of wolves and their constant competition for dominance. Nick, when pushed past his limits, can be brought to the point where others’ lives have little to no importance to him - this is when he is lost in the fog of his rage. Knowing that he is already responsible for killing someone doesn’t help the matter much. |

| Nick wants to get a grip on himself and the feral nature of his mutation.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
ADVANTAGES: |
| 360º PERCEPTION - With intensified senses, Nick is able to hear and smell people before he even sees them. Sometimes, he can even feel their footsteps in the floor.
BALANCE - A master of balance, it's hard to get Nick off his feet. The fact that he's just as good on all fours as he is on his two feet helps.
COMBAT REFLEXES - You punch, he swats away your hand. You kick, he dodges. You go this way, he goes that way. Nick's reactions are lightening-quick, making him someone it's hard to catch completely off-guard.
LIGHT SLEEPER - Like some dogs, Nick sleeps very lightly. He tends to wake up whenever someone's sneaking nearby. |
POWERS: |
| ALTERED FORM - Nick is stuck in a form halfway between that of a wolf and that of a human. He can walk upright, but can manage on all fours also. He is covered with fur, and possess an animalistic nature. His excess body fat has been removed and replaced with lean muscle. His lungs are more efficient, as is the rest of his body. His form gives him a few advantages.
Enhanced Strength - Nick is extremely strong, the excess body fat removed by his mutation and replaced by muscle. He is much stronger than anyone his age, and stronger than most adults, but he does not exceed human strength.
Enhanced Speed - Nick's legs are extremely powerful, allowing him to cover distances faster than most. He is faster than most on two feet, and even faster when he reverts to a four-limbed run.
Enhanced Endurance - Nick's body is capable of going for longer than most other people, allowing him to just keep going and going until the job's done.
Enhanced Senses - Nick's senses are intensified, allowing him to see, smell, feel, hear, and taste everything at a level much higher than any human could ever hope. His ability to see in the dark is above average, though he lacks night-vision.
Enhanced Agility - Because of his speed and strength, Nick is able to dodge things at breakneck speeds. He can leap out of the way, and react to attacks extremely quickly.
Razor-Sharp Claws - Nick is cursed and blessed with ever-present claws, capable of shredding through some metals when enough force is applied. |
FIGHTING SKILLS: |
| BLIND FIGHTING - Using his other senses, Nick is able to compensate for being unable to see his opponent. He can still smell and hear them, and he can sometimes feel them.
COMBAT STYLE (Streetfighting + Brawling) - When it comes to fighting, Nick disregards rules, regulations, forms and the like - he just goes all out. He has no problem with using every dirty trick in the book, and then making up some more. Nick tends to use the environment to his advantage, if at all possible.
SURVIVAL - Nick was practically made for living outdoors. He can catch his own food, find places to sleep, anything- he just prefers not to have to.
TRACKING - Using his acute sense of smell, Nick is able to track someone anywhere, as long as they don't submerge themselves in water or cover their scent some other way. |
DISADVANTAGES: |
| ACUTE SENSE - With intensified senses, things that are uncomfortable will be doubly so for Nick. Rancid smells are worse, bright lights more blinding, loud noises less bearable, horrible cooking harder to stomach, even sharp pains sharper.
FERAL NATURE - This is the single scariest part of Nick's mutation. The boy's psyche is slightly fragmented. When extremely enraged, he can lose control of himself, lashing out violently at anyone and everyone around him. When he is in this state, he is a danger to himself, and everyone around him. At times, episodes of his feral nature end in him passing out or being knocked unconscious, since it is near impossible to calm him down once he starts having one of his 'fits'.
MONSTROUS - Nick looks like something out of a horror movie. He cannot retract his claws, nor can he regain a normal appearance. He is stuck in a half-wolf form, covered in fur, with every tooth sharpened to a point.
MORTAL - Nick will age, he can be injured, he can get sick, and he will die.
RECKLESSNESS - Nick rarely thinks about things he's going to do. He tends to act, then deal with the consequences later, since it's just so much easier that way.
SOLE SURVIVOR - Nick's parents were killed by people, people who had been looking for him. It hurts him, knowing that, in some way, he was responsible for both of their deaths. |

HISTORY
Nick was the only child of his loving parents, Taylor and Maria Gleason. They loved him immensely, rejoicing with every one of his successes, and consoling him when he failed. There was absolutely nothing to set them apart - they were just another happy family, living a relatively pleasant life.
And then he turned fourteen.
It started small. Mostly, the boy’s parents found him more prone to violent outbursts. He became progressively less and less capable of biting his tongue - anger spelt danger for the Gleason family. A little later, Maria noticed that her son’s eyes had changed color - they were no longer his father’s bright green, but an animal-like gold. Taylor, on the other hand, noticed that his son was growing facial hair, and in large quantities. Little by little their boy was changing, but his parents simply let it slide, praying that it was just puberty doing its work - perhaps a bit early, but nothing to be alarmed by.
It wasn’t long before Nick started to get into fights at school. As time went on, they increased in frequency and severity. It was in the middle of one of those fights that Nick’s mutation took a turn for the worse. Just as he was pried away from another boy, the teacher noticed that his hand was bleeding. Upon inspection, they realized that his fingernail was missing. They bound the finger and called his parents.
On the way home, the terms of Nick’s newest suspension still ringing in their heads, another of the young mutant’s fingernails fell off. He began to scream, and once his mother saw, so did she. They rushed him to a doctor, who told them that nothing was wrong with their son. Upon their insistence, Nick was committed to the hospital. The nurses and doctors could do nothing but watch as his fingernails fell off.
A week passed, and his hands had healed, but far from the way that anybody had hoped. Instead of the normal, human nails he’d had before, a set of horrible, sharp claws had grown to replace them. There was no doubt about it - Nick was a mutant.
From that day forward, Nick was home-schooled, his features slowly becoming more and more wolf-like. He grew sideburns, coarse and brown, his ears began to point, even his teeth sharpened. After a while, he began growing massive amounts of fur all over.
Because of his appearance, Nick was never able to go out in public, save for in the dead of night. It was a terrible thing, but even he understood what people would do if they saw him strutting around with claws and fur. His parents were already getting enough grief as it was - their co-workers had begun to distance themselves, various people around the neighborhood had even vandalized the Gleason’s home.
‘There’s a leash law in this town.’
‘The dog needs to be put down.’
One night, Nick woke up to a loud sound. It rang through the house, bouncing off the walls and tearing at his mind. A gunshot. He lay there in his bed, praying that it had been a dream, nothing that could harm him, but then, as if to prove him wrong, there was another one. It sounded… close… It was coming from inside the house.
Walking slowly out of his bedroom, Nick saw the open door to his parents' room. He stepped through to see them, their nightclothes stained with blood, bullet holes in their chest. There was a man standing there, a pistol in his hand and a ski mask over his face. By the time the man had turned to face Nick, the wolf-boy was already upon him. It was like nothing he had ever felt - rage filling every part of his body, turning his mind into one large, incomprehensible blur. He blanked out.
When he came to, all Nick could see were the forever-sleeping forms of his parents, still tangled in the sheets of their bed, and the mangled corpse of their murderer, soaking their carpet with his blood.
Nick ran.
After months living alone like a wild animal, he was found by professor Xavier. For the first time in a long while, he had a home again.
