APPEARANCE:

Kyle is a somewhat lean kid of sixteen years. He has dirty blonde hair, with black highlights in some areas. He has pronounced dark sideburns and a light goatee. His facial features show some of his feral nature, with eyes that seem almost a little too big. His teeth are sharper than a normal human’s, with elongated canines. He has pointed ears, usually hidden by his hair.

Kyle hates wearing excess clothing. Anything more than a pair of loose fitting shorts makes him feel horribly constricted. Occasionally, when the situation calls for it, he’ll relent and put on a shirt. But he hates shoes most of all, they throw off his balance and make him slightly clumsy. Even in the coldest winters he’ll wear as little as he can get away with.

His posture is almost always slouched or completely hunched over. He walks on the balls of his feet rather than flat-footed. If in a hurry, he’ll run on all fours much faster than anyone on two feet can run. He also doesn’t sit as normal people do, instead sitting on a crouch upon chairs and furniture.

NATURE:

PERSONALITY:

Kyle Gibney is a young man torn right down the middle. On one hand, you have a young man raised in the highlands of Scotland. To this Kyle, there is nothing more important than family. He is a pleasant, if somewhat mischievous young man. He is quick with a joke, and unafraid to poke fun at himself. Even before his mutations, Kyle grew up with a deep love for the outdoors. And growing up in Ross and Cromarty, among some of Europe’s most spectacular landscapes, it is easy to see why. As a child, he was always climbing things, be they trees, hills, and later, mountains.

However, Kyle is also fraught with insecurity. Especially after his mutation, he has a very negative body image, describing himself as someone with a face “only a blind mother can love.” Although normally pleasant, he is very slow to trust. But those he does trust he defends with feral tenacity and standoffish loyalty. He is especially weary of those who claim to understand him. He does soften around others with similar physical mutations.

Kyle’s animalistic side, an effect of his mutation, is a bit more subtle than others. He lacks Wolverine’s rage or Sabretooth’s sadism. At his most unrestrained, Kyle resembles a predatory cat. If he is hungry, he will hunt, usually smaller game. Normally he will hunt rabbits, opossums, or smaller deer. Only if starved or wounded will he act aggressive towards humans.

Normally, Kyle is in a state in the center of his two sides. He prefers to stay outdoors, and gets restless indoors. He will hunt, mainly for fun and usually lets his prey go. He enjoys climbing trees, rocks, the mansion walls… just about anything. And just like an animal, to someone he trusts he is dogged and persistent in their defense. Clothes are a point of contention for Kyle. They make him feel restrained and constricted. Typically, he will wear shorts for modesty's sake, but often goes without a shirt unless told otherwise. And you can forget about getting shoes on him without a fight.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

ADVANTAGES:

BALANCE - Having spent his childhood in the rocky peaks of Ross and Cromarty, Wild Child is a natural climber even before factoring in his mutant abilities.

COMBAT REFLEXES - Lacking the power and durability of other ferals, Wild Child instead relies of his fast reflexes and foot speed.

ATHLETE - Wild Child is a naturally gifted gymnast. Due to his healing factor, he does not need regular exercise to keep up his build. He just does it anyway because he enjoys it.

CAT STALK - Kyle naturally walks on the balls of his feet, making him quieter than most. Coupled with his natural gymnastics skills, this makes him an adept stealth operative.

DOUBLE-JOINTED - Kyle's body is altered to assume positions most humans cannot. He can remain at a crouch for hours without discomfort.

POWERS:

HEALING FACTOR - Kyle's main ability is a healing factor not dissimilar from that possessed by Wolverine and Sabretooth. Kyle is capable of healing much more rapidly than a baseline human. Minor scrapes and cuts heal in a few seconds, while more life-threatening injuries can take days or even weeks to heal. His ability is somewhat weaker than others. He cannot regenerate severed or lost limbs, and his threshold for toxins, poisons, and disease, while much higher than a humans, is lower than Logan's or Creed's. He can resist extremes of heat and cold better than most humans, due both to his powers and due to his upbringings in the Scottish Highlands.

ALTERED PHYSIOLOGY - Upon the advent of his mutation, Kyle's body underwent a painful metamorphosis. His skeleton became much more flexible. His musculature tightened and became more refined. This enables him to be faster and more agile than a normal human. His teeth grew out to the point at which they resemble fangs.

CLAWS - Kyle's finger and toenails completely fell out, and were replaced with claws at the tip of each digit. These claws are made of keratin, like most mammalian predators. They are strong enough to rend flesh, muscle, and some weaker bones, along with wood.

HYPER-SENSES - Kyle's senses are far and above what a normal human's are. His senses of hearing, eyesight, smell, touch, and taste are comparable to a predatory cat's senses.

FIGHTING SKILLS:

ACROBATICS - Kyle's abilities make him a natural acrobat. He can climb, leap, and tumble with ease. He lends this both to defense, lessening fall damage, as well as his own eclectic fighting style.

CLIMBING - Kyle is an expert climber, able to scale a wide variety of surfaces. Trees, rocks, even sheer walls. He uses his claws to help keep his grip when he can.

COMBAT STYLE (Streetfighting)- Kyle relies on his agility and speed in a fight. He also utilizes his environment, rebounding off of walls and utilizing low-hanging branches and/or overhangs.

DIRECTIONAL SENSE - Kyle always seems to know which way is north, even in the thickest woods or most desolate locations.

TRACKING - Thanks to his enhanced senses, Kyle can track a person for miles with little problem.

DISADVANTAGES:

CRUDE - Kyle has a disdain for clothing, only wearing the bare minimum when he can. Sitting isn't very comfortable for him, so he squats in his seat instead.

FIDGETY - Especially when indoors. Kyle loves being outside and on the move. getting him to sit still, even in class, is a difficult prospect.

MONSTROUS - While Kyle has some physical abnormalities (large eyes, pointed ears, fangs, claws) he thinks he is much uglier than he really is.

EQUIPMENT

UNIFORM:

Kyle wears a standard X-uniform, tailored to be lighter to reduce the weight and constriction he feels. The gloves and boots are omitted so he can utilize his claws.

EQUIPMENT:

SMARTPHONE: iPhone. He recently got this so that people can contact him in an emergency. However, beyond the basic functions of a phone, he has no idea how to use it.

TRANSPORTATION:

Public Transportation

HISTORY

Kyle Gibney was born in the highlands of Scotland, specifically the area known as Ross and Cromarty. His hometown was small and quaint, with little contact with the world outside. In fact, the only real outside contact it ever had was from tourists passing through who wished to experience the scenic mountains of Ross and Cromarty.

Kyle's parents, Tyler and MacKenzie Gibney, lead tour groups into the mountains. And, for more thrill-seeking tourists, climbs up its larger peaks. So climbing and exploring was naturally in Kyle's blood from birth. He started off small. The trees in his yard became his playground. During school, he would look wistfully at the forest's edge, resulting in poorer grades than was expected of him. But nothing could keep Kyle from the outdoors.

As soon as his parents felt him old enough, Kyle began accompanying them on the tour groups. They started him off with the easier ones, casual tourists who didn't want to push the envelope any. But it didn't take Kyle long to get bored of these mundane treks into the wilderness. He longed for more. He wanted to see the highest peaks Ross and Cromarty had to offer. His parents, however, were cautious. They knew the dangers the mountains held, and didn't want their young son getting hurt or worse due to his impatience and restlessness.

So one night, Kyle formed a plan. If his parents wouldn't let him pursue his dream, he'd bypass them altogether. He packed up a few essentials in climbing gear, a lunch, and left a note on his bed. When daybreak came, Kyle was gone. His destination was the Munro peak of Spidean a' Choire Leith, one of the peaks of the Liathach. Although one of the Torridon Hills most popular peaks, it was also known as one of the most challenging.

And Kyle was attempting it alone. He planned to hit the Spidean a' Choire Leith then traverse to the western Mullach an Rathain before heading home, to prove to his parents he could handle the terrain. Things went well at first, he managed to get to the first peak with only a few minor troubles. However, while negotiating a series of rocky pinnacles known as Am Fasarinen, Kyle lost his footing. He tumbled down the vertical terraces, ending in a head near some trees and in excruciating pain.

Kyle may have died had his parents not mounted a search for him. They rushed him to a hospital where doctors were astonished to find that he had no internal injuries, nor even any broken bones. But the pain the boy was in failed to subside. In fact, it worsened with each passing hour. No amount of morphine seemed to help.

Over the span of a week, Kyle's body shifted and deformed. His spine became looser and more flexible. His muscled tightened and compacted. His ears became longer and pointed. His teeth grew into long, sharp fangs, and his finger and toenails fell out, only to be replaced by claws. By the time it was done, Kyle was a changed boy. His parents were horrified at what had happened, and being deeply religious, ran from him.

The townsfolk learned of Kyle's transformation and believed him to be a demon. They formed a mob to hunt the boy down. Kyle barely managed to escape the hospital, and retreated to the woods. Among the hills and valleys, he managed to shake his pursuers. But he was left alone, with no one to care for him, and his body now completely different.

For nearly a year, Kyle lived off the land. He scavenged and hunted for food, and drank from streams and rivers. His existence faded into urban myth and legend. But it seemed, at least one person believed in the myth. And he located Kyle bearing an offer. Although skeptical of the man's offer to help, he accepted.

Now the Wild Child of Ross and Cromarty lives in America, in a small private school in Westchester County of New York. But just as Tyler and MacKenzie Gibney couldn't tame their son, so it seems that the heart of Kyle Gibney will always belong to the wilds.
