PERSONALITY:

Fury is considered one of the best there is. A non-nonsense career solider, Fury is the epitome of a strong leader, showing himself to be an excellent tactician and motivator. He is often seen as a cold, calculating and at times cruel sort of man who will stop at nothing to get the job done. However, he has shown periods of kindness and even affection to those who have earned his respect, although he works hard to hide it. He is a secretive man by trade, and will not reveal any information unless necessary. People have learned to fear and hate Fury, though all of them still respect him. He is not above manipulating anyone to get things done.

Fury can never be truly trusted. He almost always has an ulterior motive, and will do whatever he needs to do in order to get the job done. His hard-ass, gung-ho behavior has earned him a lot of enemies.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

ADVANTAGES:

CONFIDENCE - Fury possess an untouchable air of superiority that makes others instinctively realize he's not worried. He doesn't come off as cocky, though he can at times. Fury possesses a presence that makes people know that he is the type of person who will get what he wants when he wants it, by his own hands or by proxy. He is not the man with whom to fuck.

PATTERN RECOGNITION - Fury has an amazing ability to put things together, whether it be puzzles, secret messages, or another form of repetition that might not be so obvious to the average eye. Recognizing patterns in functions, as well as remembering points of history and how they fit together, little gets by or surprises him.

POKER FACE - Fury is totally unflappable when it comes to keeping a straight face or holding on to information. No one knows what he is thinking or how he is feeling.

TIRELESS - Fury can function better with less sleep then most. While the average person needs a good eight hours a night, he can operate on half that for weeks at at a time. He still gets tired like a normal person, but this also happens at a slower pace.

POWERS:

SLOWED AGING - Nick Fury's aging has been slowed greatly by the Infinity Formula, a serum created by Dr. Berthold Sternberg. Fury was first inoculated with the serum in the 1940s. Fury took the serum annually for many years. Due to its cumulative effect, Fury no longer needs additional doses to prolong his life span.

FIGHTING SKILLS:

ASSESSMENT - Fury can tell the difficulty of many tasks and judge the abilities of others.

BLUFF/INTIMIDATION - He has the power and will to start a war, and he doesn't keep it a secret. Just test him.

LEADERSHIP - Fury is experienced with keeping a team together and focused on goals.

MILITARY - Understanding of the armed services. Fury may reduce the difficulty to lead troops or understand a military commander's strategies. Nick Fury has trained as a paratrooper, Ranger, demolitions expert and vehicle specialist. He holds an unlimited-tonnage, all-seas license as a commander of ocean-going vessels. Fury has completed Green and Black Beret Special Forces training, and has been an agent of the OSS (Office of Special Services) and a liaison of the MI-5 (British Secret Intelligence). He is a seasoned unarmed- and armed-combat expert, was a heavyweight boxer in the Army, and holds a black belt in Tae Kwan Do and a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu. Fury has honed his fighting skills sparring with Captain America, perhaps the world's finest unarmed-combat expert. In his youth, Fury learned to fly planes and wing walking.

WEAPON STYLE - (Guns) - Modern personal firearms of all types-handguns, rifles, shotguns, sub machine guns, including laser, stun, and concussion varieties. Fury is usually armed with a personalized needle pistol that has a 300-round magazine, a government issue .45 caliber automatic, a captured German Luger in 9mm Parabellum, a modified semi-automatic Walther PPK in 9 mm Parabellum, and the Ingram MAC-10 machine pistol in .45 caliber.

DISADVANTAGES:

BARBED TONGUE - Fury has a unique talent for saying things which will come to pass, in a very abrasive and caustic manner.

MISSING EYE - We don't talk about the eye.

ZEALOT - Fury is a measured fanatic, and he will sacrifice anything for his and the country's ideals and goals. He'll defy the law if it conflicts with his objectives.

HISTORY

Nicholas Fury was born in the early twentieth century and fought for the United States in World War Two. During the invasion of Sicily, he, along with Private Fisk and Canadian soldier James Howlett, attempted to loot a house. American military police arrived to arrest them, and all three were subdued. Fisk was grazed by a bullet, while Fury was imprisoned in an unknown location alongside several other black men, and Howlett, who despite protests that he was Canadian, was also shipped to an unknown location. Fury was selected to be the next test subject for Project Rebirth, as his blood work most closely matched that of subject 22, the most successful of the previous test subjects. He was injected with a serum that gave him super-strength, which he used to free himself and the other prisoners, who then escaped. The scientists who were working on him let him escape, deciding that they had all the information that they needed for now.

After attending college in India, Fury re-enlisted in the United States military, where he was deployed into various conflicts such as the Kosovo Wars. He was later assigned to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Weapon X program in the original Gulf War. While transporting Wolverine, an Iraqi guerrilla ambush freed Wolverine from his cage, whereupon Wolverine slaughtered all the Iraqi fighters. Only one member of the US forces survived the ambush: Nick Fury. It was in this ambush that Fury lost an eye, and from then on would wear an eye patch. Carrying Fury through the desert back to allied forces, Wolverine was thanked for his work by being repeatedly shot, caged once more, and returned to the battlefront. Still, a bond was forged between the two men.

In the mid 1980s, the mutant known as Magneto began rallying other mutants to his cause of mutant supremacy, instilling fear in the general populace. Nick Fury was commissioned to begin work on a new Super Soldier program, one under the control of the United States.

In 2000, issues begin to come to a head. Nick Fury was placed in charge of the Ultimates Initiative. Magneto and his followers begin to assert their belief in their supremacy. Charles Xavier opens his school for Gifted Students, a cover for seeking out young mutants and training them to use their powers for the benefit of society.

Between 2000 and 2008 Nick Fury was appointed head of SHIELD, a United Nations peacekeeping force. Seconded by Thaddeus Ross, they continue the Ultimates Initiative, developing super powered and technology powered heroes to counter Magneto, his mutant followers, and other villains that will undoubtedly appear. During this time, Fury and Charles Xavier met each other. While Fury cannot publicly support Xavier without blowing the school’s cover, he does what he can to turn a blind eye to Xavier’s students and their activities. In exchange, Xavier does what he can to reign in mutants who choose to follow Magneto’s rhetoric.

In 2009 the Avengers went live. They are the public face of the SHIELD super hero initiative and are led by Fury.
