APPEARANCE:

Miguel is a handsome young man of Mayan/Mexican descent. He has a mane of dark thick wavy hair, although he sometimes manages to wear it straight. His eyes are a piercing dark brown, which are a clear reflection of his mood at any time. When he smiles he can seem either seductive and alluring or sweet and innocent, similarly a scowl might appear menacing and dangerous or convey the deepest of hurt and betrayal. He has an athletic build without appearing muscular. In his electricity form, he appears to be a blue-white image of himself, and even though he is naked it looks more like he is in a radiant costume as the details are lost in his glowing force field. Miguel has an odd relationship with clothing, sometimes he is the pinnacle of fashion, and other times he is barely decent, partly this is because as his natural state is that of pure electricity, he tends to literally burn through his clothing in a short time, so he is careless about what he wears, a certain lack of modesty contributes to this.

PERSONALITY:

Miguel is quite dynamic, almost a force of nature. To him all that he feels is the natural state. When he is in a good mood, he is charming and cares about others. His first instinct will be to help those in need. At the other end of the polar spectrum, if he is angry, he is dangerously so, with a deep fury like lightning in a summer storm. If angered enough that anger will be manifest in some manner not the least of which will be a disturbance in the electromagnetic field around him. He has a harder time remaining flesh and blood when angry. This pronounced state of his emotions comes from the fact that on the day of his manifestation of his mutant powers, Miguel became locked as a teenager for ever, and his emotional development polarized by the events on the day in question when his sister and father were murdered. Miguel is proud of being both a mutant and being gay, and has no problems with vocalizing it. Though brought up Roman Catholic, he has no use for religion, seeing it as little more than a crutch.

A perpetual teen, Miguel lives in the here and now, rarely dwelling on either the future or the past, though if he must think of either, it will be with strong emotions. He also clings to the physical trying to maintain his connection to the world of flesh and blood. His is Carnal and outgoing, but not completely reckless. He sometimes compares himself to being a vampire because like those gothic creatures he is locked into a perpetual state of youth. Miguel is deeply loyal to friends as they may be the only mean by which he will calm down if angry, and he will go to any length for them. He is suspicious of authority figures, believing many of them to be corrupt or hypocritical. Usually, however, he is not he one to start trouble.

GOALS:

Miguel will not use the term Superhero, but what he wants to do is defend those who need him, improve the world in what ever way possible, especially co-existence between mutants and baselines. He hopes he can do that through the X-Men, but he knows that callings often find a person rather than the other way round.

CHARISMATIC - Lightning just seems to have that special magnetic charm, which in his case may be literal magnetic charm. There is something about him that people just find irresistible, beyond simply good looks.

CAT NAP - Lightning tires and rests somewhat differently than most people. When his energy levels are low, he can easily fall into a sleep, almost as if he were turning himself off, and he can rest for a short period of time. He still needs about the same amount of sleep as most people, but he can accomplish it through napping.

DAMN HEALTHY! - Lightning maintains perfect health, mostly because he is a being of pure electricity. His human body is a representation of how it was at the moment of his transformation.

POWERS:

ENERGY BODY – Lightning's electron plasma form allows him to perform a number of superhuman feats, such as fly, protect himself from harm and manipulate electricity as an attack. In his plasma form, he does not need to breath and like electricity is resistant to temperature. Lightning is only partly solid. He cannot pass though solid objects nor can he hold them, unless it is a conductive material at which point he can choose to do one or the other. Lightning can chose to partially transform, allowing him to the varying effects of his powers but at weaker level. Miguel cannot convert anything but himself into electricity. Any foreign material organic other wise is incinerated. Non organic material if it cannot be broken down simply passes though him upon achieving his plasma form.

ELECTRIC FORCE FIELD – While in energy form, Lightning is protected by an electromagnetic field that not only defines his form but protects him from harm both physical and energy, offering him some immunity to attacks.

FLIGHT – While it is theoretically possible for Lightning to behave like electricity and move at near light speeds, Lightning has only utilizes a tiny portion of that. He can travel faster though electrical wiring, but seldom does so for long distances because of the fear of getting lost in the complex electrical grid.

ENERGY EMISSIONS - Lightning can project electrical attacks at rank damage, similar to lightning bolts, if he attempts to cover an area with electricity, he can do so, but the damage is somewhat reduced. He can also affect electrical devices, he can make them function, only in ways they are meant to, for example he could turn on a radio and control the volume or tuning, but he could not use it as a transmitting device. Similarly, he could not override a computer command, although he could fry its circuits.

FIGHTING SKILLS:

ATHLETICS – Lightning is talented footballer (Soccer) and had a manic passion for the sport.

COMBAT STYLE (Streetfighting) - In his earlier years Lighting grew up on the mean mean streets of Los Angeles, fighting was an everyday reality. While he tried to avoid it, it was an unavoidable reality. Lightning knows how to throw the punches needed to end the fight as fast as possible.

STREETWISE - Growing up in East LA, Lightning had no choice but to learn the art of living and surviving on the mean streets. Lightning knows how to handle himself on the streets and when dealing with low-lives and undesirables. He knows who to or not to approach, how to identify gang signs, etc.

LINGUISTICS - Lightning is fully bilingual in Spanish and English, and speaks each with a native accent. His knows American Sign Language and is fluent in German.

MECHANICS -Lightning knows how to fix, repair and improve most makes and models of Cars and trucks. With a well equipped Garage he can rebuild a damaged vehicle. His is a expert on the Chevy Monte Carlo

DISADVANTAGES:

FORCE OF NATURE - Lightning's responses are as elemental as his code name. Forever hardwired with a 16 year old brain, he often reacts with the purest form of an emotion, and seldom curbs his desires, acting without hesitation and expressing the fullest expression of the emotion that prompted the response in the first place.

ELECTROMAGNETIC VULNERABILITY - Lightning is vulnerable to people who can control electricity or who possess magnetic powers, as well as such natural phenomena as sunspot activity.

DIRTY POWER - Because Lightning’s power is imprecise, he occasionally shorts himself out, suffering drops in power level unexpectedly, sometimes to the point where he might become immobile for several moments until he can regain control of himself.

Trust Fund - (Rm) Miguel's father may have hated the life he had gotten into but not the momey that came with it. Over the years he managed to launder millions of dollars into legitimate sources to provide for his family. Miguel receives $2000/month for expenses. Upon graduation from College it will increase. If any extraordinary circumstances arise, he could petition for more but right now, but currently there is no need.
