APPEARANCE:

Bobby has a nice physical build, he isn't the buffest guy around, but he isn't a scrawny little boy either. He doesn't take working out as seriously as he probably should, which may affect his performance slightly; but he is still in nice shape for a boy his age.

Normally, Bobby would tend to keep himself clean shaven and fresh at all times possible, with his hair kept to a manageable if low maintenance length. He opts most of the time for casual clothing and layers, even though they serve no practical purpose in terms of warmth. He cannot afford expensive clothes, and in fact, he doesn't even own a proper suit. As such he tends to wear tee shirts, jeans, thermal tops, hooded sweatshirts, sweaters, and other generally casual attire.

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE

CHARACTER CONCEPT:

Popsicle with a Playful Personality

ORIENTATION:

Straight

DEMEANOR:

Gallant

NATURE:

Cavalier

PERSONALITY:

Emotionally, Bobby is devastatingly honest or perhaps blunt might be a better term. He is very up-front with his emotions and his thoughts all the time, though has found wit and wise-cracking humor to be the device best served for delivery without rubbing others raw. Also, he's obviously incredibly brave, both in terms of facing external physical danger, as well as facing up to unpleasant situations and admitting his own mistakes. He presents as easy going and jokey with a casual speech pattern that indicates a certain relaxation.

It should also be noted that Bobby possesses acumen for numbers, a talent that he downplays.

Also, Bobby is compelled to explore his powers to the fullest and has been repeatedly disappointed in his inability to achieve new heights on his own to master his gifts and be as upfront as possible about them.

GOALS:

Paramount among everything is being liked; this is one of the main driving forces behind his constant joking and cracking wise. In his heart of hearts, he does want to be a hero and the kind of idyllic mutant that Charles Xavier wants them all to be.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

ADVANTAGES:

APPROACHABLE - Iceman is quite approachable and non-threatening, and people tend to come to him with their problems and questions.

CONVICTION - Iceman holds great belief in himself and is capable of withstanding temptation better then most. His greatest conviction is his belief in Xavier's Dream, and attempting to bring it to life.

HEROIC - Iceman is the hero type, always helping those less fortunate then himself, and he won't harm anyone, no matter how evil they are towards him. Often times his bravery gets misconstrued by others with his somewhat brash commentary as overconfidence, but Bobby is not about to let harm come to anyone if he has a means to prevent it.

CHARISMATIC - Bobby just seems to have that special magnetic charm or appeal about him. Are his jokes really that entertaining? Not really. But he has a habit of rubbing people the right way no matter what. It's almost as if he has personality Teflon. No matter what he says or does, people just seem to not be able to resist his company.

ATTRACTIVE - Bobby's definitely an attractive kid. Fortunately enough for him, he's got the kind of appearance that allows him to gain a free pass for some of the checks his mouth writes. This also has helped to spur his approachability.

POWERS:

THERMOKINESIS - Iceman is a mutant with the superhuman ability to lower his external and internal body temperature, projecting intense coldness from his body. Like any normal human being's, the nerve centers for regulating the Iceman's body temperature are found in the part of the brain called the hypothalamus. However, the Iceman can mentally override his hypothalamus to allow his body temperature to be lowered by an unknown internal mechanism. This ability converts the latent thermal energies in and around his body into an unknown form of energy that is efficiently dissipated. A related mutation has rendered his body tissues unaffected by sub-zero temperatures. The Iceman can consciously, immediately lower his body temperature from its normal 98.6 Fahrenheit to that of -105.7 F within the span of a few tenths of a second.

As his body temperature falls, the surrounding moisture in the air that is in contact with him is similarly lowered. Just as condensed moisture forms frost, this moisture forms an icy covering which encompasses his entire body. It also obscures his facial features.

THERMAL VISION - The Iceman has the ability to see living beings due to the heat signature that they give off, because of the absence of heat around him. He is still coming to understand deciphering and recognizing individuals as more than simply people - as opposed to a specific person - or grasping instances of depth-perception past that of more than 15 or so feet, but with practice comes improvement.

CRYOKINESIS - The Iceman can use his mutant ability to freeze any local air moisture into super-hard ice. This ice can be formed into any object of his choosing: the only limitations are his own imagination, his budding skill as a sculptor, the amount of available moisture, and the ambient air temperature which determines how long his ice sculpture will stay icy. At present, in order to perform any detailed or complex forms he must be holding said object and must use his hands or fingers to physically manipulate the waves of frigid cold that shape it.

FIGHTING SKILLS:

ART (Sculpting) - Iceman is capable of creating sculptures of ice. His finite detailing is still a work in progress, but he's far more efficient than a chainsaw and an ice pick.

ATHLETICS (SWIMMING) - Bobby enjoys taking part in sports, particularly swimming, and when dedicated a sport he sticks with it. He also seems to have a natural talent in the water.

FINANCE - Bobby's natural ability with numbers has also gave him a jump start in finance, he's good at watching his money and making sure it is spent on what it's needed to be spent on.

MATHEMATICS - Bobby has a talent for numbers that he tries to down play whenever possible, not wanting others to know.

DISADVANTAGES:

CHIVALROUS - If Iceman witnesses any evil-doings, he must try his damnedest to right them, and in doing so, might be susceptible to danger at every turn.

DISOWNED - Iceman's family, not to mention the rest of the town, had a hard time dealing with their son "coming out" as a mutant, to the extent that they did not fight off a lynch mob from taking him away. As of now, he has no where to go, and no family to go home to.

STILL-DEVELOPING POWERS - Bobby is currently a Gamma-level mutant, who has yet to grasp the full potential of his powers. He may blossom into an Omega-level with the passage of time and much more training.

POWER LIMITATIONS - Like that of any trained athlete, the Iceman's ability to perform is directly related to his daily physical health and current mental state. Under normal conditions, he can usually form ice continually for a period of about 5 hours before becoming exhausted.

HISTORY

The life of one Bobby Drake began in suburban Long Island with perfect parents that loved him, and a brother that was right there for him. Life seemed to be going well, everyone was enjoying having him around; though, once he hit puberty, shit really began to hit the fan... and we're talking much more than just a rage of developing hormones! One day while taking a shower, he noticed that the particles hitting him were no longer steaming hot water, but cubes of ice. He had no idea what was going on at the time and thought it was just something wrong with the pipes! His parents didn't really know either, so they let it go.

A few days later, Bobby awoke in his room, and his breaths were coming out cloudy, like the room was nearing the level of freezing. However, it was nearly 75 degrees in his room! He freaked out, but didn't tell anyone. Maybe it was all just a dream, and he was going crazy? That was until the day he finally figured out that he was the one causing all of this as he was drinking a lukewarm Pepsi. He placed his hand there, and he felt it, slowly cooling down the product until it was ice cold! Who could he tell about this? Who could he trust not to freak out? He was... a mutant.

His parents were tolerant but by no means con-goers in terms of Bobby's "condition," as they saw it; ironically enough this was something which they themselves were responsible for, as there had been no radiation or other event to induce Bobby's mutation, but rather a hereditary paternal gene passed to him during conception. The collective decision was made to keep Bobby's powers as hush-hush as possible, lest any of the anti-mutant sentiment which had been growing in the region due to the actions of a few activist groups come down harshly upon their home.

As time progressed, Bobby was able to exercise minimal control over his abilities, at least in terms of managing to keep himself from feeling constant cold. However, when a bully named Rocky and his entourage of teenage thugs attacked Bobby and his then-girlfriend Judy Harmon, an unwitting Bobby encased the bully in ice out of sheer panicked defensive instinct.

Believing the boy to be a menace, the townspeople organized a lynch mob. They broke into Bobby's home and overpowered him, but the local sheriff took the teenager into custody for his own protection. A few bricks, mortar, and bars weren't going to keep the mob out though, and they stormed the sheriff's department, citing vigilante justice, and were set to send Bobby Drake to the here-after when they were unceremoniously interrupted by one Professor Charles Xavier. Saved for the moment, Bobby at first was combative with Xavier about accompanying him to back to his Institute for 'Gifted' Youngsters, however when he returned home only to find his parents refusing him, for fear of their own lives being threatened by another such mob, he was left with little choice but to accept the Professor's offer.

While at the school, he learned that his power was sucking in heat, and creating ice in the process. He was able to learn quickly, and put all of his efforts into that for the first year at the school, barely taking the schoolwork as anything more then busy work. He was much more interested in learning just how powerful he was.

Bobby came to view the Professor as a surrogate father, and perhaps the only true authority-figure which he would fully back down from without some form of contestation.
