Astrid has a very strong personality. Once she has made up her mind about something, she is unswayable in her position. She believes very strongly that mutants are better than humans - and why not? God surely made mutants to be better than regular people, since He gave mutants special gifts that set them above and beyond their flatscan peers.

Astrid is a spoiled bitch and usually always gets her way. Unknown to everyone, she has used her Telepathy to swing the court case against ESU in her favor, which made her a wealthy woman.

She thinks that people who view mutants and humans as equals are weak individuals. She will not hesitate to kill another who she sees as "weak" or who stands in her way.

360º PERCEPTION - This gift allows Astrid to "see with the heart", allowing her to avoid overreliance on her eyes for seeing her environment. Her Telepathy senses people in the immediate area.

IRON MIND - Astrid is resistant to most forms of Telepathy and similar powers that seek to read or control her thoughts. This makes Astrid mostly resistant to most all forms of mind attacks. It is easier for her to keep less-powerful Telepaths out of her mind, but stronger Telepaths can break through and use their mental powers against her.

HARD TO KILL - Simply put, Astrid is incredibly difficult to kill. She has an annoying habit of surviving... somehow. Emma had nearly killed her during their confrontation at ESU years ago, but somehow Astrid managed to survive (although she had been in a coma for several weeks).

POWERS:

TELEPATHY - Astrid Bloom is a mutant with various telepathic abilities. She can read minds and project her thoughts into the minds of others.

Telepathic Illusion - ability to create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring.

Mind Link - ability to develop a mental link with any person which remains as a connection to that individual.

Astral Projection - Astrid is able to cast herself onto the Astral Plane and appear as a psychic entity outside of her body. Her body can multi-task to a small point, although she cannot do everything as well as she would fully inside her body. In essence, she seems 'miles away'.

Telepathic Camouflage - ability to mask herself, and other peoples' presence from those around her. Can telepathically disguise herself, making her appearance to those around her quite different (changing the appearance of clothing, as well as more involved disguising).

Psionic Shield - ability to erect a psychic shield for protection of herself and of others minds.

Mind Bolts - Astrid can project a psionic bolt into the mind of another person. While it is not a physical attack, it can and will cause the other person physical pain. It can even render them unconscious if she sends a strong enough Bolt.

FIGHTING SKILLS:

BLUFF - If there were such a thing, Astrid would be a professional bluffer. She often tells "white lies", and she will not shy away from a flat-out lie. It may be in order to save her own hide, or else just to mess with someone.

LANGUAGES - She speaks both English and French fluently.

MANIPULATION - Getting people to do what she wants without letting them know it. This includes scheming, seduction, and other such machinations. Astrid seems to always get her way.

DISADVANTAGES:

COMPOMPULSIVE-AGGRESSIVE - Astrid has lost sight of her moral and social perspectives on violence. Naked aggression is her primary way to interact with others socially.

COMPULSIVE SPEECH (aka Big Mouth) - For whatever reason, Astrid has difficulty sticking to the rule, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." She likes to taunt her enemies to get a rise out of them and enjoys shooting off her mouth.

MANIC-DEPRESSION - Manic depressives suffer from severe mood swings, often resulting from trauma or severe anxiety. Astrid may be upbeat and confident one moment, but then she'll be pessimistic and lethargic the next. The onset of this form of depression set in after Astrid came out of her coma.

OBSESSION - Astrid is obsessed with extracting revenge against Emma Frost for the attack back in college at ESU that left her in a coma for an extended period of time.

ZEALOT - Astrid is a fanatic regarding Mutant Supremacy, and she will sacrifice anything for her ideals. Astrid will defy the law if it conflicts with her objectives.

UNIFORM:

When entering a combat situation, Astrid usually wears a black, Kevlar-padded catsuit, that is not dissimmilar to the X-Men's uniforms.

RESOURCES:

Astrid has no real need to work, as she wound up successfully suing Empire State University for negligence (although it wasn't their fault - see HISTORY) and receives a monthly payment that will stretch throughout most of her lifetime. The settlement was worth a few million dollars.
