HISTORY

Janet Pym is secretly a mutant, a fact known (so far as she knows) only to her husband. It is from her genetic mutation that Hank was able to develop the Giant Man formula.

Janet is very wasp-like. She eats insects and grubs and lays eggs in her sleep every six weeks. She can generate a wasp-like sting which she discharges through her hands.

In her college years she shared a room with Betty Ross and started seeing Henry Pym. He was abusive to her early in their relationship and during college he hit her two times. The first time he put her head through the bathroom door, and the second time he punched her so hard at a Christmas party that he split the roof of her mouth in two. Betty Ross also claimed that several times Janet appeared to be missing chunks of hair.

Despite all that, Janet married Hank and the pair went to work for the government on attempting to recreate the Super Soldier formula. Using Janet's DNA, Hank developed the Giant Man formula and how to communicate with insects.

Janet lives a dual life, afraid of the day her marital problems become public knowledge.
