APPEARANCE:

Monet isn’t very model-esque in terms of her height, but her flawless face, long silky black locks, and golden brown skin beg to differ. Her chocolate brown eyes always hold a mischievous gleam and her smiles are just as questionable, making one wonder what M is thinking. She rarely ever wears make up, aside from eye shadow and lip gloss, her ego far too large to hide away under such things. Her hair is usually worn down in its natural straightness or curled to impress, as Monet loves her natural look. She’s a little conceited, but that goes hand in hand with her clean look.

She stands 5’7”, still being taller than some girls and has a general body like a goddess and works hard to keep her body in such a shape. Her small waist and long legs are extenuated by her immaculate way of dressing herself. Fashion has been a love of hers from the years when she was a kid and didn’t change once she arrived in America. She always makes sure she is dressed to a T at all times. From all this, It’s easy to see why one would mistake Monet's power as perfection in itself. Her style is best described as preppy as she is usually seen in some snazzy outfit. Mo is never too good for some lounge clothes though, just seen in them less frequently.

PERSONALITY:

The stuck up perfectionist is the first impression that most people get from Monet. A brat from a rich family might be another view a person might have and both are true to an extent. Knowing her values to be the best and to be competitive about nearly everything in her life is what keeps her from making friends. Monet is a social butterfly, so meeting people and talking is her game. Her only problem is she doesn’t like to play nice all the time and she doesn’t know when to shut her mouth about certain things.

Monet is naturally good at most things and hiding it is far from her mind. Around her, few people get to shine other than herself. She’s used to being Mrs. Popular and people loving her, but now she is struggling to keep a connection with anyone. With this being said, she tries to beat back her bad habits and comes off a little strange as she tries to see eye to eye with people.

She is also very judgmental, having a heavyset view on people the moment she meets them from what they say to the things they wear. This being said, she definitely isn’t the person to confide in. “I told you so,” is bound to come out of her mouth instead of supportive words. This all springs from her distrust of people. Her brother’s hateful ways and past back stabbings from “friends” have taught her to not trust a soul. Monet won’t show her emotions in public as it shows weakness and doesn’t confide in people in fear of it being used against her. People are very aware of her perfections and the things she is good at, but they still don’t really know her. In truth, she really hides behind her newly formed powers and perfection to protect herself, the only thing she seems to care about.

What people don't realize, however, is her anger issues. Monet won't fail to resort to childish ways if she doesn't get her way. Not the mention getting jealous over things. She may seem mature, but she is far from it. This anger seems to make Monet into a scatterbrain, with little or no tact to her actions.

GOALS:

Monet's number one priority is to gain control of her mutant abilities. As for career goals, well Monet has no real career goals to be honest, but she has noticed that her abilities would make her perfect for the position of doctor, nbut her love for clothing and what not warrents her to perhaps enter the fashion magazine bussiness.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

ADVANTAGES:

ATTRACTIVE - When Monet enters the room all eyes are on her. Her flawless face and overall clean dress attract even a momentary glance and a turn of heads as she walks by, her perfume following in her wake. Her attention to detail about how she carries herself never goes unnoticed. Monet is an exotic beauty and never fails to flaunt it.

FLIRTATIOUS - Flirting is hard work, whether you are good at it or not. You have to have the ability to catch a person’s interest and keep it. This can make Monet extremely persuasive when she wants to be.

CONFIDENCE - Monet oozes confidence from her mysterious smirk right down to her strong walk. She has a way about her that she is ready for anything. To some this is confidence. To others, it’s just plain cocky. Though how many people do you know can stand naked in front of a room of people and not even try to cover anything? M’s that person. She posed nude in front of a college art class once.

QUICK LEARNER - Figuring out how things worked has never been hard with Monet’s thought process. If she plays around with something long enough or sees something done once, she’ll have it down. Things such as school studies, learning languages and martial arts have always come easy to her.

PERFECTIONIST - Either things are in their right place or it rubs Monet the wrong way…almost as if she was obsessive compulsive. She has to make sure everything in her life has an air of perfection. In that same way, she won’t let people do things for her, because they can’t do it right. Plus, she just loves the feeling of being better than you.

POWERS:

HYPER-STRENGTH - With her ability to take people down a notch through her words, she can knock them out with a punch and not a girly one at that. M can bench press about 10 tons without breaking a sweat. Her muscle mass does not show even through this ability. She can run and fly with this weight, with some trouble, but it is possible.

HYPER-SPEED - Monet discovered this power while practicing some moves on the soccer field. Thankfully, she was alone when she started to burn through the grass. Her fastest speed is about 95 miles per hour through her own personal training. Once she pushed herself all the way to 140 but had to rest for more than two days and her muscles ached too much to even walk. She can hold the speed of 95 mph for about 45 minutes before she starts to slow down.

TELEPATHY – This is her newest addition to her array of abilities. She has no real control over her power, usually picking up a person’s thoughts by accident, often resulting in a headache. When she doesn’t mean to send her thoughts, they maybe heard by someone near her. M has yet to have a constant connection between her and another person for longer than five minutes. Once or twice she was overwhelmed with the voices of multiple people on the street. M is still learning the extent of this power.

FLIGHT - Finding out that she had the ability to fly was one of the first abilities M stumbled upon. She is able to fly without the help of wings allowing her to move more precisely and fly through tight spaces. The fastest speed that M has been able to reach was about 100 miles per hour, but only for a short time of 20 minutes before she was forced to rest. To minimalize the amount of time she has to spend resting, she breaks off her top speed at 80 miles per hour. She pushes herself continuously to be able to increase her speeds and shorten her rest time as her powers continue to evolve.

This power is one of the ones she exercises the most and from this she can make immediate turns and has an easy time completely changing direction at top speeds. In contrast, she has variable landings that can range from perfect stance to a jogging stop. The same counts for the sky as she sometimes has problems stopping immediately. M does, however, have a great sense of gravity and is able to right herself and realize which direction she is pointed in (upside down or right side up). Aerial combat is also an advantage she has, being able to keep herself in the air as she fights and balance out the lack of ground in her fighting.

ENHANCED SENSES - M's sight and hearing were advanced with the accumulation of her powers. Her sight increased ten-fold to the point where she can see things far away (up to 5 miles) and has increased vision when it is dark. She can see as good with light a she can see in the dark. Micro Vision, Night Vision, Resistant to air current while flying

M's hearing is advanced enough listen to things far away or hear things blocked by walls and the like. She cannot control the distance that she can hear at this point in time. However, she does have the ability to hear a person talking in their normal voice several miles away and can definitely hear whispering from within a confined room.

FIGHTING SKILLS:

ASSESSMENT - Coming into a room full of chaos and disorder, Monet would be one of the first to comprehend what happened, always quick to analyze a situation or size a person up.

ATHLETICS - Monet LOVES soccer and has idolized the sport since she was a child. Soccer, swimming, ice skating, gymnastics, and skiing are the few sports she has expressed interest in and thrived as well. She

COMBAT STYLE (MARTIAL ARTS) - Muay Thai and Tae Kwon Do are the two martial arts that she has experience in and she takes great care in preserving what she’s learned by training as often as possible. One of her greatest fears is being unable to defend herself one day. It started off as a way for her to protect herself (her father’s orders) and ended up being an activity that she couldn’t imagine going without.

COMPUTERS - If it has wires in it, most likely Monet can hack it, program it, or generally use it. She one day hopes that having such a knowledge would help her in running the family business.

LEADERSHIP - Although she is known for her big mouth and need to be superior, if the situation ever calls for it, Monet knows she can be a leader to the people around her…as long as they are willing to listen to her.

DISADVANTAGES:

COMPULSIVE SPEECH - This girl just can’t help herself sometimes and almost always has something “smart” to say or to once more rub in just how much better she than another person. That just never gets old to her, but it annoys the people around her. She makes enemies faster than she makes friends.

CULTURAL SNOB - Monet loves her beloved Europe and wouldn't have it any other way. American's were the last things she wanted to have to deal. Their terrible mixed culture, overweightnees, and general laziness of the people were all things she was disgusted by...and that was the short list. She holds a constant bias against American’s that makes butting heads with people all the more easier and creates more of a snob image in others minds.

MEGALOMANIA – Competition is one of Monet’s greatest weakness. She’ll do anything to out do someone else. Even at the height of danger she looks to come out first when her life may be at risk. She finds easy ways to make anything she does into a competition. In the end, it’s all about survival of the fittest. This obsession of hers tends to blur the lines if she can be trusted to go back for an teammate or finish a mission on her own.

MORTAL - She can be killed, she can catch colds, and does bleed for what it’s worth. No, its not easy to do it, but these things can happen.

CATATONIA – Monet sometimes has moments of catatonic stupor where she is unable to move at all and she appears to stare off into space having no awareness of the things around her. Supposedly, this was caused by the manifestation of her powers. During this time, she cannot be moved (due to her invulnerability) and comes off as a “black-out” of sorts. These episodes only last a few minutes.

HISTORY

Monet Yvette Clarisse Maria Therese St. Croix was born a native Algerian to a lucrative family. Her father, Cartier St. Croix is the owner of several businesses and is a multi-millionaire. Monet was raised in an environment of extreme wealth, power and education. She is a fast learner and definitely a threat to all that oppose her. She grew up in Monaco with her brother, Marius, her father and her mother. She had nothing but the best schooling and the best training from the day she was born.

Her sisters Claudette and Nicole were born in Yugoslavia, so Monet spent a great deal of her time there before she traveled the world with her father. Mostly Europe was her favorite. Monet has three passports: one French, one Algerian and one Yugoslavian (hence the long name). She had a great deal of arguments with her brother, Marius who had constantly stated that she was egotistical, rude, selfish and self-righteous and one day she was going to pay penance for her sins. She laughed him off and in her spare time, she socialized, went to clubs, stores and spent time with her twin sisters. Monet was her father's pride and joy.

Then a most curious thing happened, Monet discovered that her strength had increased dramatically day after day. She discovered that she had the ability to memorize everything and the ability to FLY even. It had occurred to her right away that she was a mutant and had no choice but to tell her father. Of course, Monet had every capability to master her abilities on her own but Cartier INSISTED that she go to a specialized school for the gifted. The Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters which was located all the way in America. She trivialized the events and didn't see any reason to go. She could handle herself.

That's when the telepathy kicked in.

Still, upon landing in the United States, Monet chose not to journey to Xavier's, instead staying at one of her father's residences in the city. Around the time she was entering the school, the world was recovering from the battle that nearly ended the human race. The school was growing and new mutants were coming forth. It seemed that some people wanted to make peace with the mutants. Seeing this reluctant union added more fuel towards Cartier wanting his daughter to stay in the states. He wanted her to be near more people like her and to learn from the best.

A cure had surfaced a few months later that supposedly “fixed” the mutations. Monet couldn’t bring herself to take it and leave all the gains she had made on strengthening her powers. She had worked so hard and learned so much since they surfaced and if she got rid of them…they would make her just another person in the crowd—sure she was intelligent, but that wasn’t enough. Monet wanted more and therefore refused the cure and continued her education from the school. There was an obvious mourning for this Jean Grey instructor that she’d never met, but she never thought twice about her until some of the more accomplished X-men and some instructors were sent off on a special mission. Monet was still too inexperienced (in their opinion) to participate.

Hearing about Xavier’s death by this mysterious Jean Grey upset her as she had taken to truly respecting the man and all that he was trying to do for maintenance of the mutant race. She had been considering leaving the school and returning home to get away from all the talk of using the cure forcibly against mutants. All the while, Monet is making a place for herself at the school. She didn’t have many friends, but she began to rise in the ranks (slowly but surely), enough to make it to deputy of her group. She may not have been the most adored person in the school, but the instructors did see her leadership qualities and rewarded her as such. Plans to return home were still thick in her mind, but getting to higher authority before she left couldn’t hurt…Monet still had some time till she graduated.

Monet had the hardest time keeping her powers to herself. Being cheeky and boasting about herself was something that came easily, but noting all the trouble there was between humans and mutants, it wasn’t the best time to shine. Monet was out shopping when the situation at Alcatraz was happening. She didn’t expect it at all, but at the same time, watching what appeared to be a war between mutants occur was not something you saw every day. The ending was horrid, but at least it came to an end and the people who died didn’t die in vain.

Sitting at the funeral, amongst her classmates, she felt an ache for those that were lost. Especially the older mutants who probably looked to him much like a father. He was a pillar of light within their school and the once bright light was now only flickering from the damage that was done. The students although sad at least had a future, made for them by the battles at hand. Monet had never felt an obligation to anyone or anything before, but now…Monet had more of a reason to stay. She felt so strongly about this, that she found herself packing up a few things at her father’s nearby residence and moving into the Xavier’s Institute.
