HISTORYCessily was the resident of a small town in Portland, Oregon. For the majority of her life she had always portrayed herself as the ideal daughter. Throughout her whole life she was taken care of by her mother Jill who is a neonatal nurse in a nearby hospital, and by her father Mark the local contractor. Her father and mother were both devout Catholics and because of this Cessily was very involved in the church. She also had an older half brother named David, from her father’s previous marriage, whom she was very close to even though he lived with his mother. Life for her was very comfortable. She was a member of a lower middle class working family, she was a cheerleader at her high school, a B+ student, and she even had a young love named Armen Thresher. It seemed as if her life would be a nice quiet little journey. However, all this changed around the time of her fifteenth birthday. Cessily had awakened that morning feeling a little out of it. She had skipped breakfast because of lack of an appetite and missed the school bus in an effort to get some air and walk off her grogginess. She reached school a half hour later than usual and took her seat in her first period class, still feeling very ill. She made it to her third period gym class, before the illness over took her, and she asked to be escorted to the school nurse. At the nurse’s office, she was examined and it was found that she was perfectly healthy, barring a slight grey tinge to her flesh. Her parents were called and she was escorted home. That night she lay in bed with a high fever, refusing to eat anything and screaming for Armen. Her parents called the doctor and he prescribed a fever reducer and bed rest for Cessily and insured the sickness would pass. On the third day of the sickness Cessily was visited by Armen. He sat next to her, caressing her arm, and noticed it was freezing. In an effort to warm her up, he turned up the thermostat, and opened the curtains to allow the sunlight in on her. Almost immediately, he was overtaken by a bright light reflecting off of something. As he turned to Cessily, he screamed, as he saw her whole body was metallic and she no longer had any visible pupils. His scream alarmed her parents, who came rushing into the room to see what had happened. Upon seeing their daughter, they begin to weep and pray, thinking that she had been possessed by a demonic entity. Two days after this, the Kincaids sent word to the church about a demonic possession, and before the week was out a priest had come to their house to perform an exorcism on Cessily. The exorcism was very intense and emotional and it lasted for eight hours before the priest ruled it as not being demonic in nature. Sometime after this Cessily shifted back into her human form, however the shifting at this stage was uncontrollable. She would go from flesh to metal, and at a moments notice, would experience almost no control on her part. Eventually, her entire body was metal, and she had no power to change it back into it's original, organic form. David was with her the entire time, scared to death but also worried about his little sister. Not knowing what to do, Cessily’s parents opted to have her home schooled in order to lessen the shame of the public seeing their daughter. Jill became very disgusted with her daughter’s appearance and abilities, and over time stopped interacting with her. Mark loved his daughter and remained close to her. He was often the only person she had contact with, when David wasn’t around. His mother forbade him to see his sister, but he snuck out at night sometimes to visit. One day, while her parents were away at work, Cessily heard a commotion in front of her house. As she peeked through the window, she saw a crowd of high school students led by Armen vandalizing her house, racist and anti mutant graffiti. Cessily ran to the attic, and once there cried until her parents had returned home. When her parents returned home, Cessily’s mother became enraged, blaming what had happened on the small mindedness of the local populous. Her father, pooling his resources, began to make phone calls to the local precincts to report the crime. The police were unsympathetic to the Kincaid's, and instead, instructed them to send their child away to avoid future problems. Not knowing what else to do, and not wanting to abandon their child, the family packed up and moved to a small town right outside of Westchester. During their time there, Cessily began to show improved ability to control her changes, and she also started attending public school. At school one day, Cessily overheard some students talking about a man named Charles Xavier, and how he had a school for special children not too far away from them. Cessily's eyes widened as she heard this news, and as soon as she got home, she told her parents about the man named Professor Xavier and his School. After doing some research on Xavier's Institute, and at the insistence of Cessily, the parents wrote to the school in hopes of acceptance. Three days later, they received a letter of acceptance into the school, and Cessily was on her way. Cessily was a bit antisocial for a while after coming to the school, even in the midst of mutants she was wary that they might not accept her because of the way she looked. But she soon got over it, seeing that she was not the only one with a physical mutation by far. There were plenty of students like her. But she was still the only one made of metal. Even Colossus could control whether he was in metal form or not. But she didn’t let it stop her from enjoying life. She eventually returned to her normal, fun loving self. In the six months that she has been at the school, Mercury has made new friends, and lead a relatively normal life. However, the letters and calls from her father came less and less, and now it's come to the point that she's surprised whenever he contacts her. Her brother, however, still sends her letters often, and keeps in touch. Recent PostsH: Things heat up. [Aug 14, 2009] -- Cessily decides maybe it's not so bad to let go and let things happen.
